I hope some day I can be a fascist.

Aleksandr Tatarskiy treatise on animation and directing.

A little further east to an interesting article on Shinya Ohira [link]

Now, going in the complete opposite direction (or even further east if you prefer):
By the End of next week I should be in Hollywood, accompanying :iconelpajo:'s short film "The Rooster the Crocodile and the Night Sky" along with Tomm Moore's animated feature "Brendan and the Secret of Kells" ([link]) on their American Guild of Screen Directors presentation. It was supposed to be hush hush for a while but Padraig received the award last Thursday so it should be fairly safe to assume that it's public knowledge now. I'll be over there for ten days, meeting up with some industry professionals and touring around some of the studios in Oakland Portland and Glendale. We have, as of yesterday, yet to hear back about Arts Council funding but hopefully we will know before the screening on the 19th so el Directore might make it over for that at least.
Meanwhile, I'm storyboarding some films to pitch over there, for advice and tutorials and all that, as well as showing my yet to be finished grad film for critiquery.

I'll be back on the 25th, with not a cent to my name but hopefully I'll be wiser for it.

p.s. I've also set the ball rolling for Yuri Norstein's possible workshop/masterclass in Ireland. I'll hopefully have a more concrete arrangement in a few weeks, once his availability is discovered and funding has been applied for.
Check him out:

p.p.s. I've put up some pictures from my youth here [link]
I feel older every day and looking at these pictures is like looking at someone else's life, like picking up the wrong set of photos at the developers.
